Dial Gidwani retired in 1984 after 30 years as an Air India executive, having lived and served in Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and India. (His native birth and deep international experience equip him especially well as an interpreter of cultures.) He came to the United States in 1984 and settled in the Chicago area. His experience abroad as an airline executive easily converted into a successful travel business, Intra World Travel and Tours (
www.intrawld.com), which continues to thrive under his two sons, Anil and Ajay. Anil is a squash professional with an established business of his own (
www.squashproshop.com).
Dial and his family became U.S. Citizens in 1990. Dial and his wife, Lakshmi, visit India each year. The Gidwanis have been active in community affairs virtually since their arrival in the U.S. Dial himself founded the American Institute of Sindhlogy (AIS) in 2000 to promote awareness of the ancient civilization of India Sindhu (Indus) Saraswati. AIS is a non-religious, non-political, non-profit organization (
www.sindhulogy.org) Lakshmi taught Indian cooking at various institutions in Illinois.
Formed only recently, this new venture has gained considerable popularity with small
and medium-sized business in U.S.A. and India.
